Most popular dog names

It is an exciting time welcoming a new dog into your household. Unless your dog is a rescue dog with an already established name you will need to choose a name. Lets look at the most popular names for dogs...

Most popular dog names

We all put lots of thought into naming our new puppy, we choose a dog name that reflects us and the dog (or what we want the dog to grow into). hopefully you are going to share many years with your new best friend so you should choose a great name for your dog.

At the end of the year various pet insurance companies release anonymous data regarding the pets with policies with them. One of my favourites highlights the top dog names at year end.

After gathering as many lists of dog names as I could find, I have compiled my top 100 dog names as at December 2010.

also names to describe their personality. like jumpy. also if they like cookies (not saying you should feed your dog cookies) you could name it cookie.

  5. Sue Bridgland says:

Present dog is Tizer, because he’s a Lurcher / Jack Russell cross with stripes, so a bit like a Tiger, and is still, at 13, very fizzy.

Last dog was Bandit because he had a black mask around his eyes and has a tendency to steal. Dalmation / Border Collie cross.

Names to fit the dog. Both rescued dogs adopted as pups. Both wonderful.

Glad to see we’ve always had at least somewhat uncommon dog names (none appear on the list), without having anything silly sounding… Bramble, Alfie and Frankie.
